Summit
Living Mountain Day & Night Watch Face
Summit is one of my two favourites in the collection: a mountain panorama that follows the real sun where you are - a golden sunrise, a clear morning, a bright midday, a warm afternoon, a red sunset and a starry night with today's moon. Or the northern lights over the lake, green or purple: at night only, or all day.

A living mountain sky with seven fields.
The sun moves along its arc, and the moon takes over at night. The data sits on the landscape without hiding it: a big raised time with seconds, the weekday, date and week, two ring gauges over the peaks, a row for heart rate, battery and recovery, and your weekly running distance and the weather at the bottom - seven fields, each one any of 19 metrics. With my Gym Notes app, Summit can also show today's workout ("LEGS", "REST") small between the rings - off by default (setting "Gym Notes workout").
- 017 data fields, 19 metrics each
- 026 skies with the sun + the northern lights
- 03Weekday, date, ISO week and weather
- 04Always-on display like the face
- 05Big digital time with seconds, 12/24 h
- 06Units follow your watch settings (km/mi, °C/°F, 12/24 h)

What you can change
Change every metric
Each of the seven fields can show any of 19 metrics - battery, Body Battery, recovery time, heart rate, steps, weekly running distance, weather, calories, floors climbed, active minutes, distance today, stress, notifications, altitude, sunrise/sunset, respiration, pulse ox, battery days left, air pressure.
Remove any metric
Set a field to "Empty" and it is gone. Remove them all for a clean face with only the time over the mountains.
The sky your way (setting "Sky")
Follow the sun (Sunrise, Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Sunset, Night with today's moon), the sun with the northern lights at night, or the green or purple northern lights all the time.
12 or 24-hour time as your watch is set; a leading zero as the watch shows it, always (09:41) or never (9:41) (setting "Leading zero"); an AM/PM marker (setting "AM/PM marker").
The date your way (setting "Date line")
Shown, or off for a cleaner face.
Large numbers (setting "Number size")
Every field as its icon and a large value, no label - easy to read at a glance.
Always-on display like the face (its ring, hands and colours) or minimal, dim to bright; the full face on solar/MIP watches.
Gym Notes workout (off by default)
Today's workout from the Gym Notes app, small between the rings.
Change everything on the watch or in the Connect IQ app; every change shows at once.
20 metrics for every field.
Each of the 7 fields shows any of them, or nothing at all. Swap them any time on the watch or in the app.

Version 1.4.1
First released 4 Oct 2026. Updates are free and install by themselves.
- 1.4.25 Nov 2026
- The living sky follows your real sunrise and sunset even when the weather has no location (the watch's own sunrise and sunset first), and the sunrise / sunset field shows too.
- 1.4.11 Nov 2026
- Steps now count towards your own daily step goal from Garmin Connect (it was fixed at 10,000), so 7,500 steps of a 7,500 goal is 100%. Thanks for spotting it!
- 1.4.030 Oct 2026
- New: the northern lights. Summit now has the skies of Nordic Light built in - setting "Sky": follow the sun, the sun with the northern lights at night, or the green or purple northern lights all the time.
- New always-on display that looks like the face: its ring, its hands and its own colours - and no digital time when you have switched it off. Brightness: dim, normal or bright (setting "Always-on brightness"); the old minimal screen is still there (setting "Always-on display").
- The setting "Gauge style" is now called "Number size" (Normal / Large) - easier to find.
- 1.2.029 Oct 2026
- New setting "Gauge style": "Big numbers" shows just the icon and a large value in every field - much easier to read.
- New setting "Date line": show the date, or turn it off - change it on the watch or in the Connect IQ app.
- 1.1.128 Oct 2026
- The date now shows correctly in every watch language: letters such as Č, Ř, Ł or Ş appeared as an empty box; they now show as their plain letter, and other alphabets use the English abbreviation.
- 1.1.025 Oct 2026
- New setting "Leading zero": the hour as the watch shows it, always with a zero (09:41) or never (9:41).
- New setting "AM/PM marker": shows AM or PM next to a 12-hour time.
- Bigger numbers and labels on the smaller watches (Forerunner 165, 170, 70 and 265S, vívoactive 5 and 6, Venu 3S and more): easier to read at a glance.
Why do I see "--" for body Battery, recovery time and weekly running distance?
Body Battery, recovery time and weekly running distance are shown only when the watch provides them; otherwise "--".
Weather is the current value synced from the phone?
Weather is the current value synced from the phone; the heart-rate range covers the last few hours.

On solar/MIP watches (64 colours) the painted scene is dithered into the palette?
On solar/MIP watches (64 colours) the painted scene is dithered into the palette; the sun or the aurora stays the motif.
How do I change a field or a colour?
On the watch: hold the middle-left (UP/MENU) button on the watch face, choose Watch face, then Customize. In the phone: open the Connect IQ app, go to My Device, Watch Faces, Summit, then Settings. Every change shows at once.
Is it a subscription?
No. You buy it once in the Connect IQ store and keep every future update.
Does it drain the battery?
The face is built to be as frugal as a Garmin face: it redraws once a minute and the always-on screen is dimmed and minimal on AMOLED watches.
