The trial is the full face, every field, colour and setting, for 12 hours on your own watch. When the time is up the face tells you, and you keep it with one purchase in the Connect IQ app.
How it works

Download the trial
On the face's page, choose your watch and download its trial file (a few hundred kB).

Copy it to your watch
Connect the watch with its USB cable and copy the file into the GARMIN/APPS folder. How, on Windows and Mac.

Wear it 12 hours
Pick it as your watch face. After the trial the face shows Keep this face: get it in the Connect IQ app and the full version replaces the trial.

Trials are not available yet. Until then, each face's page shows it in every colourway and lists every watch it runs on.

- Connect the watch to the computer with its charging cable.
- Open File Explorer; the watch shows up as a drive or a device (for example fēnix 8).
- Open GARMIN (newer watches: Internal Storage › GARMIN), then APPS.
- Copy the downloaded .prg file into APPS, then eject the watch.
On Mac
- Newer watches use MTP, which macOS cannot open by itself: install the free OpenMTP app.
- Connect the watch, open OpenMTP and go to GARMIN › APPS.
- Drag the .prg file into APPS and disconnect.
Then
On the watch, hold UP/MENU on the current face, choose Watch face and pick the trial. To remove it later, delete the file from APPS or remove it in the Connect IQ app.
Questions
What happens after 12 hours?
The face stays readable but shows a calm Keep this face screen with the face's name. Buy it in the Connect IQ app, and the full version (with every future update) replaces the trial.
Why is the trial a file and not in the store?
The Connect IQ store has no trial periods for watch faces. A file you copy yourself is the only honest way to let you wear the real face before you pay.
Is the trial safe?
It is the same face as in the store, built from the same code, with a timer added. It asks for no permissions the store version does not have.
